Stamping Workshop #139

I've had such a great day today at our all day stamping workshop.  This lovely deer card was my creation for today (I was too busy teaching to finish my other project!).  This deer stamp is a Stacey Stamp.  I've stamped in archival black and coloured using Cosmic Shimmer Drawing Inks.  The background has been created using the Tim Holtz Shattered Mask and Gathered Twigs and Spiced Marmalade Distress inks.  It has all been mounted onto an 8x8 card blank.

These are the fabulous creations of Laura and Lisa who joined me at today's workshop..

Aren't they fab!

Lisa's Steampunk card (Creative Expressions Stamp)

Lisa's Daisy Card (Stampendous Jumbo Daisy Stamp)

Laura's Lighthouse card (Crafty Individuals stamp)

Laura's Peacock card (Chocolate Baroque Stamp) coloured with Cosmic Shimmer Watercolour Paints
Got just a little soggy getting to and from the car with the torrential rain - but it was certainly the day to stay indoors crafting!

hope you got to have a crafty day too

Green Butterrfly #127

see... told you I was still playing!... yes more from the Woodware Bubble Butterfly set.

I've started by using pale green memento inks and lightly rubbed over my card surface.  I darkened the edge with bamboo leaves.  I also stamped the Woodware Viva La Plume stamp in the Bamboo leaves too.  The stamp at the bottom is from Chocolate Baroque stamps in green Versafine.
My butterfly has been coloured in greens using cosmic shimmer drawing inks and highlighted with flat back gems.

A final dash border around the outside finishes the piece off.

From the Heart Butterflies #126

You might detect a little theme over the next couple of days as I'm still playing with my Woodware Bubble Butterflies set.

I've started by stamping my butterflies in black and then using pale yellows and green Memento inks I added colour around the butterflies and then used the same inks to stamp pieces of text from the Woodware Viva La Plume stamp - it doesn't matter if it goes over the butterflies as you'll be adding stronger colours over the top.

I then added colour using a mix of colours from Cosmic Shimmer Drawing Inks - orange, blues, yellow and added a few details of some Marine Stardust pen in some circles too.   I then added some flat back gems to add extra sparkle.

I stamped the from the heart greeting in teal memento and then added a drawn border in black fineliner.

Birdcages in blue

This is another card made using the fab stamps that come free with Creative Stamping (Our copies of the magazine have now arrived in the shop and are ready to send out!).  I started by stamping the flowery border in black archival.  I then stamped the birdcage, birds, reeting and the flowers at the bottom - again all in black archival.  Now to add a little colour - I used my Cosmic Shimmer Drawing Inks again - some really bright tones in purple on the flowers , leafy green on the foliage and then the very pale blue to make the birdcage stand out.

I found a lovely backing paper to match the tones, so decided to mount it just in a simple black and pale blue borders.

I cut my little bird from my Crafty Individuals die from bluecard (the same as I've used on the mount) and then coloured it using Purple Archival and cut n dry foam - to make sure it stood out from the background.

It's all mounted onto an 8x8" card blank.

Loving these stamps...  ! :-)

Red Peonies and Birdcage

I've been sent the stamps that will be free with the next issue of Creative Stamping that's due for release very shortly.  I've started to create some samples with them - and just love the designs!  As ever the quality of the stamps is excellent  - easy and clear to stamp.  I have played with the peony flower on this card, together with the birdcage and a couple of birds.  I drew in the links to suspend the birdcage using a fine liner (just draw lots of circles in a line!).  All stamped with Archival black.  My colour is added with Cosmic Shimmer Drawing Inks - nice and bright for the flowers.. ever so subtle for the birdcage.

I happened to have a really bold pattern 12x21 sheet of paper in my stash that went with the colours perfectly - so it was all put together onto an 8x8" card.

What do you think....?

You can pre-order this issue of Creative Stamping on the website - I suspect it will sell out quickly!

Something Simple & Workshop list

Today's project is a simple one.  A fabulous stamp from Stampendous - Click your Heels just stamped and then simply coloured.

It's really nice to make very elaborate cards, but sometimes just keeping it simple really works - particularly with a really detailed stamp such as this.  Of course it has lots of potential for more elaborate designs... and you will see some as I play more with this design.

I started by stamping with Archival black ink.  I though that this would be nice to be coloured using my drawing inks.  They are also perfect because the very fine brush makes colouring in the little details very easy.  I've kept the colouring very simply - a pale blue colour - Sea View and a pale blush beige shade - Cosmic Blush.

As you can see I've then added three colour mounts just to pick up on the colours and mounted onto a square card.

With thanks to Sarah again for loaning me some of her fabulous stamps!

I've got a crafting session lined up .... so keep visiting to see my next batch of creations!   Many of my recent samples have now been put on display in shop as I'll be featuring them in my next batch of workshops.  The list is now finally available - I hope you feel it is worth the wait!.   Scroll to the bottom of this post for the full list of papercrafting workshop and keep an eye on our website for Sarah's jewellery workshops as they are about to be published too!  If you would like to book, just email, book online or give us a ring!

Follow your dreams tag

See... I couldn't stop with these stamps!  These are the Art Flowers set from Creative Expressions.

Today's project starts again with the blank white tag.  I sprayed the cardstock with Cosmic Shimmer Misters - Bilberry Crush (My favourite!) and Red Firefly.  I wanted the colours to be really firey and intense.  I left this aside to dry thoroughly (give it a blast with your heat gun to encourage it) but don't blot it dry as you'll remove the intensity of the colour.

Once thoroughly dry, stick your piece of washi tape along the side.  I liked the idea of the simple black and white pattern so it wouldn't distract from my background or flower.  I next stamped and embossed in detail black both my flower and my greeting onto separate white card.

I coloured my flower using my Drawing Inks (yippeeee... I've finally found which box they've been hiding in for the past few months!).  I cut out my flower and my greeting ready to mount onto my card.  I decided I wanted to add a little charm by my greeting, but it looked odd because the greeting was cut out, so I cut out a little bit of card the same width of my banner and embossed it with detail black and stuck it to extend my banner, this meant I then had something to stick my charm onto.  I stuck the pieces on and then stuck on the heart charm and the flower centre (a gold beadcap) with glossy accents.  The final detail was three little black peel-off dots along the bottom and some black and purple ribbon at the top.

I love the vibrant colour of this tag - it has a real wow factor!

Cute Oriental Lady

This simple design of card has been made with a woodware peel-off sticker.  Our cute oriental lady has been coloured using Cosmic Shimmer Drawing Inks.  These inks have fabulous vibrant colours that you can apply with the very fine brush fitted in the lid.  She had such vibrant colours I thought she would work best on a simple matching colour background and a little trim of polka dot ribbon.
happy crafting!
